I dated a guy when I was younger who had this nervous tick where whenever he had to sit down quietly somewhere, he'd thump his heel up and down rapidly on the floor, bouncing his leg.

    He had four brothers.

    They all did it.

They have nearly shaken loose a church pew on occasion. It was really kind of funny.
Me, my brother, and my dad do the same thing.

Only it's not just when we're quiet, it's at any time....

Doing it now as a matter of fact

Bf and his brother have been on Adderall their entire adult lives. It actually has had reverse effects on the both of them, but their shrink still keeps them on it.

Don't take anything I say about him to mean that I'm a blanket judger or that I have no compassion for him. I feel dearly about my bf because his ADHD has given him a lot of problems in life. Simple things like remembering where a store is or what he wants to order to eat are extremely difficult for him.
Ritalin made my husband so sick and tired when he was in elementary, it affected his learning.
Hubby doesn't seem to have much for memory problems like stores, he often forgets if he's asked for something or I did, more short-term stuff like that. He hates deciding on anything though, because he doesn't stop going back-and-forth between them.

Thanks for all the advice, guys.

I'm not sure what Hult has, or if he has anything I'm only sure that I have to figure out how to lay down the basics of proper behaviour in the dojang (for safety).

My mother says I would've been diagnosed with ADHD when I was a kid & from what I understand I may still have it at 54.I don't care,my life's good

One time in 8th grade,I was,as usual, not payin' attention in class & started drumming on my desk,it had a nice resonance.I'm jammin',gettin'louder & louder, when I noticed the class had gone silent.....

I slyly looked over at the class & teacher & they were all lookin' at me.

So in one of my early "Hey,I'm a star!" moments I finished up with a big flourish, sat back, folded my arms & smiled at the teacher.

To her credit, she just said "Thank you Freddie for the performance, now we'll get back to (whatever subject it was)"

One of my very best friends from college has ADD. He said he was on Ritalin in high school, but he hated the way it made him feel, so he quit taking it. He's a sweetie, a very deep thinker, and fun to talk to and hang out with. But his quirks are pretty much limited to changing his life dream and everything he likes about every two weeks and counting from one to four at random times. I poke fun at him for this, but he knows I'm just being playful and I mean no harm.

Honestly, you'd never guess he had any kind of mental problem - he's just a little quirky as far as the world is concerned. The only thing is when he starts listening to music, he zones out. I cannot count how many times we'd be strolling through the city and he'd wander into traffic without even realizing it and I'd have to grab him by his shirt collar. Caffeine is hit and miss with him - coffee has no effect, but caffeinated sodas make him sleepy. *shrug*

I've also been told that I could easily be diagnosed with autism because I have many signs of Asperger's syndrome. I don't believe that - what I do believe is that I hated school as a kid and felt drawing was more important than what my retarded "I'm gonna teach after 10 years of SAHMing" teachers had to say. Boredom does not equal autism.

One of our friends has a son (6 years old ATM) who is the most high-energy kid I've ever seen, even more so than my ADD brother. But he's not ADD. Kid can focus when he wants to, he's just wired for sound. So our friend, in hopes of actually sleeping through the night, put his son into Tai-kwon-do, hockey, and soccer. Now the squirt doesn't usually get up before 6am and actually sleeps through the night.

So does friend. He figures if he can slow the kid down enough that he might finally beat his 6-year-old son at Call of Duty. I have no end of fun razzing him about getting his arse beat by a toddler.

Sometimes what these 'ADHD' kids need isn't meds, it's exercise. Just an observation I've made over the years.

Diet, supplements, exercise, a regular schedule: all very normal, very good things-- and they usually help ADD/ADHD. Vitamins and supplements are already helping, and I'm working on my diet in general, not diagnosis-specific. I'm also working on getting more exercise and a better schedule.
I also have the caffeine thing: sodas chill me out, coffee doesn't do much but give me migraines, caffeine supplements turn me into Zombieteh... tea relaxes me mucho. :3
(BTW, puerh is amazing, try the Numi stuff, only the non-flavored stuff tastes strongly fermented.)
