And at any rate, are you gonna charge someone for taking a picture of his own penis? And yeesh, why do kids that age need a cell phone?
Well, I doubt this is what they use it for, but I'd have certainly felt safer having one when I was working at the grocery store (I was 15). I often had to work until 9-10pm and walked home alone in warm weather.... not so bad, but there were very few street lights, so it was REALLY dark. More than one woman has been attacked on the stretch of road I used to have to walk down (it doesn't happen anymore, since they've built up that area considerably since then).

There was an underage girl accused of distributing child porn when she was found to be sending out pictures of herself to paying perverts.

Oddly enough, I'm not googling for that news story.

It amazes me how many parents come in with their little kids to buy them a cell phone. I don't see anything wrong with it per se....my 9 year old son has one also. But what kills me is they buy them EXPENSIVE phones. Most grade school kids are not responsible enough to keep track of their back packs...let alone a cell phone. Or they'd break it. Or some other kid will steal it from school.

My most shocking cell phone purchase was a couple weeks ago. Lady comes in with her little girl...couldn't have been any older than 6 or 7. She bought her a brand new RAZR V3r...burgandy..MP3 player, fully loaded, every bell and whistle imaginable. This phone cost her upwards of $350...because she had to buy it full price. But in the defense of the customer...this little girl was the most well behaved child I've ever seen in my life. So perhaps she's one that actually can be responsible enough for a cell phone of that magnitude.

Let's just hope she doesn't know the little boy from my original post.

THEN she takes my cell phone and takes a picture of the butt crack. So I now have a picture of a nasty, hairy butt crack on my phone. .
Uh, not to be a party pooper, but I am pretty sure that may be unethical.

I can only wonder ... Do you think the son had a MySpace.com account? Perhaps he already used said photo somewhere....Mom needs to have a closer look at son's life.

My 11 year old son also has a cell phone. He is involved in quite a few after school activities and I wanted to make sure he always had the means to reach me in case of a schedule change. It also comes in handy when he goes to a friend's house.

His has a few bells and whistles but nothing like that little girl's! Then again, it was free so I don't mind. I participated in a focus group on kids and cell phones and as part of the study I received the phone and a lot of airtime (it's a pre-paid). We're still using the free airtime but I'll probably continue to buy it once the freebies run out. The service is made specifically for kids which means *I* am in control. Mwuahahaha. I manage everything online and get to choose who he can make and receive calls to/from, what times of the day the phone can be active, and how much money he can spend on text messages, games, etc. Not a bad deal really...

My little cousin got a pink RAZR for Christmas. She's eight.

Considering I got a can of wasabi peas from my mom?

Um, it seems she HAS had a closer look at his life, considering the picture that started the whole thing!

I live in Canada, and, ironically, nowhere near a Walmart *sigh* (I like Walmart, please don't shoot me.... they're way better than the alternative here - the only one of which in my area is a really icky Zellers)

I shall ask my mother to check though. I *LOVE* Wasabi peas!
