So with anything we sell if it goes on sale within 30 days of the purchase, during the sale event if you bring in your receipt you get a price adjustment, as long as we have the item in stock.
Example: Joe Smith buys a toothbrush set for 20 bucks Jan 1, it then goes on sale for 4 bucks off Jan 7-13. He brings in his receipt on the 8th and asks for a price adjustment. We check to make sure we have some on hand. We do. Price adjustment made and Joe smith is 4 dollars richer.

SC: This iron is on sale and I just bought it a week ago, can I get a discount?
TC- *inspects coupon* Sir this item goes on sale in 2 weeks, so I cant do anything until the sale begins
SC:.......so no discount?
TC-...no I cant do anything about it
SC: But its less expensive, why do I have to make another trip?
Tc- Sorry sir, thats the rules
SC: Well im not making another trip so adjust it now please.
TC: Im sorry but I cant, I cant even override the system to do something like that.
SC: Well get me someone who can.
TC: *ME* can you come over here please?
SC and TC explain even though I started to see the conversation happening so I hovered until I was needed.
SC: So what are you going to do for me?
Me: Well seeing as how the sale doesn't start for two weeks, theres not much I can do other then tell you to come back at that time with your receipt and we will happily do an adjustment for you then.
SC: So I have to make another trip?
Me: Are you not planning to visit our store once during that entire week?
SC: Well I probably will...
Me: Just swing by the counter here that week and in less then 2 minutes it should be done for yah.
SC: But I have the coupon right here.
Me: Im sorry sir, things go on sale everywhere all the time, we dont deal in the past or future we deal in the present. If we gave out sale prices for everything in the store since sometime this year it WILL be on sale we wouldnt make any money at all. If that will be all?
SC: Alright......
*does the loooooooong standing there looking at you confused look that I never understand. Do they still think there is a conversation? Hasn't it ended at this point? 5.....10........20.......30seconds. ok I'm walking away, by now!*
Honestly sometimes I can override stuff like this, but I learned long ago that if your employees go by the rules, you back them up on it. Also if i DO override something its for a damn good reason other then 'I dont want to make another trip that I'm going to make anyway"
