  • Theatre is closed, and this guy wants to leave and have me let him come back in?!

So last night I was the closing usher at the theatre. Not much to do and its very nice and quiet, don't have to deal with any customers, right? 99.9% of the time, but not last night.
This dumbass actually came out of his movie and approached me. DA= Dumbass
DA: Excuse me, I'm going to just go to the store and come back. Could you please let me back in?
Was this guy serious? The doors were locked and we were closed down for the night. Plus I was not about to let him come back in. You are in a movie, so stay and watch the dam thing, or leave. But once we close down for the night, if you leave the theatre, you ain't comin back pal.
Me: I'm sorry, no. I cannot do that.
DA: But I'll be right back.
Me: Can't do it, sir, I'm sorry.
He gives me the "bad customer service skills look" and I look at him right back.
Me: For security reasons, I can't do it. We're closed and I'm not supposed to let anyone back in once we lock the doors.
DA: Even if I'm just a few minutes?
    Me: Can't, I'm sorry.
    DA: Ok, thanks.
The way he said it was in a "thanks for nothing" attitude, but again I don't give a fuck. Sure I coulda been nice and broke the rules and just let him back in, but I'm not going to. We're not even supposed to let people in who forget their stuff, if we're closed for the night that is.
I know people sneak in food because they don't like our concessions prices and that is fine. But leaving the theatre to go get more food from somewhere else? No way I'm fucking letting that happen. (BTW this is a story about a sucky customer and not our high concession prices, so please stay on topic)

    That's just crazy!

I confess, I've snuck in food before. I'm sure most of us have at some point. But if I run out, I don't leave in the middle of the movie to get more! I don't even leave for refills on soda/popcorn. I'm there to watch the movie. That's what I paid for, and that's what I want to do!

If I must depart momentarily (bathroom, phone call, etc), I make it as brief as possible. The idea that this guy wanted to leave the building completely...you just miss so much of the movie that you paid good money to see! Why would you do that???

Also, he could have at least attempted to hid the fact that he wanted to bring in outside food. (Though around here...I've watch people bring in entire fast food meals from elsewhere and the ushers didn't bat an eye. I think they've finally been broken.)

Sigh, yeah, I feel your pain.

After our mall theater's box office closes, we lock the mall doors closest, to keep people from wandering in and hanging in that part of the mall. You can go out, but not come back in. Several times a night people complain that they left to have a cigarette and were locked out. Or, they parked on the other side of the mall and want me to lift the gate and let them walk through the whole closed mall to get to their car.

I wish we had hours posted on our doors, but sadly, no.

When I used to work in stores connected to a mall, the mall would get very upset if you let people in after they were closed. They usually had their motion sensors armed an hour after closing.

I don't deny doing that either.

You're trying to apply logic and common sense to an SC. You should know better than to do that by now.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!
