*posting this because it's kind of an update on a situation I had with sucky people in the church office.........as some aspects of this are definitely Fratching material, I'm just keeping the focus on the fact that they did NOT stick with their "never going to come here again" rant.*

Some of you might remember my having posted awhile back about a guy who got rather nasty with me because I wouldn't override our limits regarding food pantry assistance, and said that we would not be hearing from them again. Which, for the rest of the time I worked there, we didn't.............although I was curious as to what might happen when the year ended and our limits on assistance were "reset".

Anyhow, I was in the office area yesterday just kind of checking out how things had changed, and I briefly looked through the folder we'd used to keep track of food pantry assistance, and the guy's wife/girlfriend had shown up recently. (She'd been waiting outside the office the day of the incident, so I'd assumed he'd told her not to bring us any "business" again)

They were unsatisfied with the charity they were receiving from you guys, so their threat was to not ask for any more charity from you?

So he is getting free assistance, & just because he does not like the free assistance he is getting & the rules/regulations that are required to get the free assistance, he is not returning.

The assistance is free!! He is not paying a single penny!! So there are rules/regulations that are required to get the free assistance. I bet this is not the only church that has certain rules/regulations that are required to get free assistance. He is not the only customer needing free assistance, & there is only so much food to be distributed.

He should be great full for the free assistance he receives, but we know that sucky customers are not great full.

Well, I definitely have to wonder what the wife/girlfriend said this last time she came in requesting assistance, because I know our pastor is aware of the situation, but others who volunteer might not be.

If I remember correctly, wasn't he maxed out on the limit for assistance, then when the limits weren't overriden per his demands, he swore he'd never return? Until the new year reset apparently. Not that "not returning!" during the year would mean anything, seeing he was already maxed out.

It's a shame. It's such a necessary and valuable service, yet there's always someone to abuse it. Keep up the good works though!

My four-year-old likes to try that. She seems to think the threat will work, because it works against her (i.e. "stop that or you don't get your fruit snacks later"). So she'll say something like, "If I don't get my fruit snacks now, I won't get them later either," and seems to think we'll capitulate because of it.
