So, I work for an insurance company that insures different types of electronics, including TVs. Well, back in November we had a rather amusing customer.
First of all, her name was Sweet (won't disclose last name for security purposes). Silly name or not, she was a moron. She first called us only a week after taking out her policy, saying that her TV had fallen off the wall mount and that she was going to file a claim. We informed her of the process, and she filed. Well, the adjuster noticed a problem immediately. On the date of incident, she put a date that was before her policy was taken out. The claim was denied, no big deal, and then her policy was canceled for dishonesty. And then began the fun.
Sweet started calling us multiple times a day, trying to get us to re-evaluate her claim. This went on for a week before the calls ceased. Then, lo and behold, there was a brand new TV policy with the same serial number, same address, and same phone number. We didn't even bother calling her, we just canceled her policy and gave her a refund. We thought it was over then, and often reminisced about the hilarious conversations she had with the adjuster.
Well today, 4 months later, we get an interesting call about a claim on a TV policy. The claims assistant immediately recognized her voice (it's very distinct) and told her we would call her back shortly. After a bit of investigation, they found that once again, Sweet had taken out a policy for her TV and was about to get away with fraud. She called back, we went through the same speech with her (while she claimed that she had no idea what we were talking about) and once again denied her claim and canceled her policy. The situation is ongoing as I type this. She has already called about 5 times in the past two hours, and we're expecting another call any minute now. It's things like this that keep my job exciting..... how sad.
