mistakes happen and sometimes things go wrong ie. pizzas either get made wrong or not cooked "up to the customers standards". OK we try and fix the mistake or error. sometimes the customer wants their stuff right away sometimes they want a credit on a future order.
we have our credit list. this list consists of every customer complaint (either local or through corp) and goes into a book with the the date of the complaint, name address, phone number and what we owe them. when the credit gets used it is marked off by a manager and can not be used again. this system works well but could be better (like actually putting it into the POS so we can actaully track how many complaints everyone makes)
ANYONE using/living at the phone number and address can use the credit at a later time.
I get the initial call from this one
me - who else
IWMF - Mr I Want My Freebie
me - <openning speil>
IWMF - yes I would like to use a credit that I have from the end of Feb.
me - <gets phone number and looks it up in the book. the entry appears to have been marked as USED with valid intials>
me - it appears that the credit has already been used on <date about a month ago>
IWMF - WHAT????? blarggle blraggle YOU PEOPLE give me a crappy pizza and DO NOT want to honor a credit??????
me - as I said before sir that credit has already been used on <date>. < while he is frothing at the mouth I put in the phone number in the POS system and find the address AND the last order date which cooresponds to the date the credit was used.>
IWMF - brlaggle blraggle JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE GIVES MY PHONE NUMBER YOU GIVE THEM A FREE PIZZA??????
me - <at this point I can not really do anything more so I turn it over to the GM>
I inform the GM of all of the details and hand the phone over. the GM speaks to the "customer" giving the same explaination as I did, including the fact that the credit was already used on <date>. the GM and "customer" go back and forth for a few minutes with the customer DEMANDING his credit and the GM explaining that we just do not have the resources to give a way free stuff (for once my GM grew a spine and refused a customer demand for freebies)
apparently in the background the customers MOTHER informs him that SHE used the credit on <date>. (yeah nice communication there MOM)
the customer becomes silent for a moment and then orders some stuff at full price. his attitude turned around 180 degrees.
