I've only blown out a tire once. I slid on some gravel while attempting to parallel-park, and nailed the curb. As if that wasn't enough...I promptly got said vehicle stuck in mud while attempting to change the tire. Yep, that AAA guy earned his tip that night

I hit a curb dead on doing about thirty when I was young and blew the tire out right then and there.

Another time I hit a patch of black ice. I thought I was lucky because I was only going about 10 MPH and all that happened was the car did a very slow 180 and bumped the curb perpendicular to the tires. A week later my drivers side rear tire came off the car while I was driving, axle and all.
Going thirty head on? Yeah, I can see that doing damage. It's fast enough. The black ice, it was mainly the angle that did you in. The side walls are, of course, thinner.

The last part though... Eesh. Something got knocked loose, I think. lol

i was driving in snow in co, slid into a curb (30 mph max) and it bent the rim, sliced the tire and left me in the cold, having to seek out a tow truck.

sucked, but in the end, still my fault; irony was, there were people blowing by me, easily doing 70+ mph.

Sorry, but while I can do many things, extracting heads from anuses isn't one of them. (so sayeth the irv)

The tire actually came through fine and once I replaced the rear axle from the universal joint back I used the same tire that was in the "bump".

Although I was only going a couple of miles an hour by the time I hit the curb it was a dead on perpendicular hit to the rim. Even at only a few MPH, with a car weighing over a ton, that was a lot of momentum to be absorbed up the shaft connecting the wheel to the rear axle.

All I know is about two weeks after I had just passed a couple of side streets when the drivers side of the car dropped and I pulled over. I thought the tire had blown but all I saw was a 2" pipe where my wheel should have been. As I'm standing there scratching my head a cop comes walking around the corner doubled over in laughter with tears coming out of his eyes. When he recovered enough to speak he asked me if I was looking for a lost wheel then pointed down the opposite side street from where his cruiser was parked. About 200 feet down the road my tire, still attached to the hub and drive shaft, was just coming to a stop (apparently it had taken a left when my car continued forward).

You must have the same brand of tire as this guy.

I was on the freeway once when I was passed by a lone wheel... It just moseyed it's way across four lanes of traffic with nary a problem. I have no idea what happened to the car it was formerly attached to, however.
