    Aw c'mon. Everyone knows 1+1=fish...:P
What? In my house 1+1 = I need more fabric.

to the OP: odd, but at least she wasn't profane or anything. With my luck I always get the little old granny looking customers that wind up cursing me a blue streak.

Edit: Also born before 1980? does that mean I'm still a whippersnapper?

It's not an excuse, but I'm way more inclined to cut someone some slack if they're showing grey hair or were born before 1980.
One trick is to tell 'em stories that don't go anywhere - like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Give me five bees for a quarter, you'd say.
Now where were we? Oh yeah: the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

Shut up! Shut up! If I don't hear you, it's not true! LA LA LA LA LA LA LA! *fingers in ears*

Personally, I subscribe to the belief that "You're only as old as you let yourself feel."

What are you when you reach 60, then? Or 90?
I fondly think I'm young still at 55.

As I said: "You're only as old as you let yourself feel." If you think young, act young, you feel young, and thus, as I see it, you ARE young, despite how old you are chronologically.

My brother told me that once a person turns 30, it's all downhill from there.

Every since July 5, 2009, I've been yelling at him for laying such a curse on me, his baby sister.

buh, no way in hell i'd turn back the clock (except to have my younger body...maybe) and be less than 30; after being dosed with the 18 to 20 something crowd almost daily, i'm glad that time has more than passed.

Me: "Anything for you, hon. ;-3 " (I have no idea where I picked up the habit of saying "hon." I could just as easily say "Mongol.")
i want you to try the mongol thing and tell us how it goes over.

lonely? perhaps...sounds like she wanted to argue about the key but couldn't remember enough to keep it straight.

Dunno, I thought of a much older reference than that. 1872, to be exact.

I still want a lawn so I can yell at kids, though.

I have a lawn. It is a sizeable lawn. It takes me 4 hours on a 2-ton lawn tractor to mow it, with a 6-foot wide mower deck. Would anyone like to borrow said lawn so they can yell at kids?
