  • Do your job so I can do mine....

Alright, I figure it's finally time to break the seal and start posting some stories.

Background: I live in one city on weekends. During the week, I live/work in another city 6 hours away. I drive up Monday morning, and drive back Friday afternoon. During the week, I stay at a workers' camp (think hotel).
Now, I don't actually work for the company that manages the camp; I work for my company who has a contract to provide towels. Therefor, I do my job, and nothing else.

My basic job description is: Fold towels, and supply housekeepers with clean towels on a daily basis. this consists of about 5,000 towels every day. There are two separate 'camp' buildings, Executive and Craft.

This thread is going to be a little MiM, a little CoC, and mainly SC. However, this isn't going to be a typical dialogue thread, more like GK's style.

So, I'm working in the executive lodge. I have already gone through and distributed hand towels, bath towels, and bath mats to every housekeeper. All that's left to do is face cloths.
The head housekeeper comes up to me.
    HH: Head Housekeeper
    TK: Yours Truly

HH: One of the ladies said she hasn't gotten any towels yet today.
TK: ????Which wing? I've already gone through and done everything but face cloths, maybe she's just short on one thing?
    HH: E2.
TK: Alright, well I'll go take a look real quick and see what she's missing. Maybe I just missed something.
HH: Great. I've also informed (Big Cheese) about the shortage too.
TK: Okay. Have a good day.

    A few things.
    1) If you're going to lie to try and get me in trouble, don't. I will call your bluff every single time. It's what I do.
    2) If you're going to go to the guy who pays my company, at least go to him with a legitimate complain. Otherwise, I'm going to get a text/email/phonecall from both of my managers asking me WTF is going on. And then I have to explain it to them, and make you guys look like incompetent tits.

Do your job so I can do mine....

To unload all the product into the building, I have a loading dock attached to a man door and the end of a really long hallway. Coincidentally, it's also the door that the utility guys use for all their shit. So if there is about 100 bags of clean bedding blocking that door, and it's not my job to move them, guess what? I'm done for the day! I don't care what you think, or what hasn't been done.

That's all I feel like typing for now, I'll post up more stories later.

I hate people who go to "The Big Cheese" with a complaint before they've given me a chance to see if a mistake was made or not.

    Grrrr.

I don't know if it's me...perhaps it's just that i wasn't physically there to hear the convo..but to me it sounds like this is how it played out to me.

Lady gets a complaint about missing towels. Lady goes to super to inform of the complaint. Super tells lady to tell the person in charge of towels about the complaint. She comes to you, informs you of the complaint and that she talked to the super first so he is aware of the situation. You realize that someone has complained and that in order to keep the crazies at bay, you double check your work. Just in case.

I guess what i'm trying to say is...i think she went to the super first to find out what she needed to do...usually a lot of companies train that way.

As i said, i really don't know how it all conversed as. It's very well that she may have said it in a way that said " Oh. And i told on you, so if you try to say you did it and you lie, you're gonna get in trouble."
I can only please one person a day, today isn't your day, and tomorrow doesn't look good either.

When someone asks you a stupid question, give them a stupid answer.

I can see where you're coming from on it, however she is not new to dealing with me, and she has come to me directly with issues before. I don't have too many issues with legitimate concerns making it to the bossman, but when her complain wasn't even substantiated, nor did she check the validity of it before going to him, that's what irks me.
