    Did you read my response?
First story involves a person emailing us for a newspaper article and obit on the murer of a relative. Person knew when the relative was killed, the name of the relative and other helpful details. Our policy is only to look 3 days after date of death, which I did and I foudn neither obit or article. This was my response:

    Dear Ms. X

Thank you for using Hxxxxxx Public Library's eServices.

Unfortunately, no obituary or articles were found for Metel Carthel/Peirct.

The policy of the Hxxxxxxx daily newspapers has always been that obituaries are paid announcements; therefore, many people's deaths are not announced in that form.

So this is the idiot's response:

    Hi,

Is it possible to look for articles about her murder? Surely there were articles about that.

    Ms. X

Now the manager adds to the response from the idiot:

    Hi DMFan,

Would you please help with this question? I’m not sure if you already looked for the articles.

    Thanks,
    Sara

I'm sure my response was clear that no obituary or articles were found . Why the murder wasn't reported? I don't know. I did look, I did my job and my response has the results of me doing my job.

    Cookie-Cake story

Another idiot called the library yesterday (well, several called yesterday)

idiot: I called yesterday and someone gave me recipes for making cookies out of cake mix. I want the same recipes again.
me: Did you lose the recipes we gave you?
idiot: no. Did I talk to you yesterday? You sound like the person who didn't want to help me yesterday?
me: no, I was off yesterday. Can you tell me where my cw looked them up? Did they mention what book or what site?
idiot: nah, it was from the internet.
me: I'll look, but if you can't tell me where the recipes were from I might not be able to find the same ones. idiot: it's from the internet. Some of the intstructions seemed off.
me: what type of cake mix or what type of cookies where you looking for? Chocolate chip? Peanut butter?
idiot: uh, ah, yeah, one was chocolate chip, the other was regular. I need 3 recipes.
me: (looking on google, come across several on allrecipe.com). Ok, for chocolate chip, use on 1 package, 18.25 oz of chocolate chip cookie cake, 2 med eggs, and 1/4 cup of chocalate chips. pre-heat oven to 350 degrees, drop a quarter size cookie on ungreased sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, let cool for 20 min on wire rack. For yellow cake cookies....same baking instructions.
idiot: pre-heat oven to 350 degrees, drop a quarter size cookie on ungreased sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes?
me: yes. now I have to go you can call back.
idiot: allright, I'm going to call back

I hate people losing the instructions we give them, which I belive is what she did.
Time! Time! Time is what turns kittens into cats.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.

    I wish porn had subtitles.

On the first one, perhaps it would be helpful to reiterate to the customer that you limit the time frame to 3 days after death? Because it's possible they're assuming you'll search for anything related to an ongoing investigation when you really aren't.
A lion however, will only devour your corpse, whereas an SC is not sated until they have destroyed your soul. (Quote per infinitemonkies)
