Well, this thread has given you the contact details of several artists. PM them and ask for a rough idea of how much to save up.
I did this with Spark, and as long as she knew in advance that I was just finding out how much I'd need to save, she was fine giving me that estimate.
(Of course, if I'd changed the level of detail I wanted, etc, the price would have changed. It's important to remember that!)
It took me several months to save up for it, but Spark now has the money and I'm one of the jobs in her queue.Seshat's self-help guide:
1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

Wow. Obsessed with genitals much?I guess she also can't buy her kids stuffed animals because OMG there's a BLANK CROTCH right there!
Also, with whoever it was...drawing chibis as porn is kinda disturbing."And so all the night-tide, I lie down by the side of my darling, my darling, my life and my bride!"

Spark, I've seen your dragon-hatching stuff (and I was highly impressed with it, especially given the medium, style, and relatively casual approach as you described in the OP). I've also seen reptiles. This kind of thing would never have crossed my mind. I don't think it would have crossed my mind even if I had no experience with reptiles or dragon art. That is a little weird.
I think your guesses are right, though: possibly a combination of a previous bad experience and a bit of an obsession. I've known people who will just stick to one topic of conversation long after everyone else has moved on, so maybe it's something like that too.
At least she wasn't mean about it, right?I suspect that... inside every adult (sometimes not very far inside) is a bratty kid who wants everything his own way.
