My first roommate ever bounced checks like it was an Olympic event. She didn't seem to get that checks didn't leave your account right away, so she'd write the rent check, buy a bunch of crap and then be confused as to why she bounced the rent check.
Needless to say, I left after the first year. I would have left sooner if I could have afforded to break the lease. That wasn't the only reason I left, but it was one of the bigger ones.
