This one has no ending yet and I don't know if they'll tell me the outcome of it.
It just struck me as suspicious.
A customer came in yesterday and said "I bought my laptop yesterday and accidentally left the printer behind."
Um.... what? You managed to somehow walk out the door with your brand new laptop in your hands but you forgot to bring the printer with you?
In all honesty, because of this site and all the interesting scam attempts I've seen, I don't really trust anyone.
And when one of the regular employees suggested that I just give him a printer I looked at him like he was crazy. "What if he's lying?" The CW replied, "ooo good point!" ... and there's no way to tell by the receipt (we were able to reprint it) since there's no S/N recorded on it.
Though I did notice the date was off. The customer said "Yesterday" but the receipt said the 4th.
He waited 3 days to come back in to claim his printer?
So, I got a manager involved and she talked to the head manager and they worked out a plan... they're going to check the stock to see if they're over. And I suspect they'll be watching the video tapes of when he made his purchase, to see if he indeed left the printer behind. And I gave the head manager a copy of the receipt with the man's phone number on the back.
He could be telling the truth. Or it's possible that he dropped it or sold it and is trying to get a new free one.
They probably won't tell me though.
