    WHAT?

It's a damn garage sale! *facepalm

Ah, but you see, to the SC, there is no such thing as "minor sale" , there are only "sales", and if there are "sales" going on, then there are a plethora of managers and supervisors to whine to when you don't get your way with your haggling.

The fact that there WASN'T a manager on duty is just proof of how poorly run this "sale" is!

yes, clearly you do...know how to spend $$ without actually knowing anything about the purchase.
There's a bridge in Michigan that I like to visit. Occasionally, I will find myself there at night-time. It is a lovely bridge and I like to get pictures of it at night. I don't know how many times I see flashes going off or people holding their camera without a tripod. Invariably, it looks like either the Canon 5D or Nikon D300.

      anyways....for pics of that bridge...

Ahhh, the Iphone vs. Droid argument. We are an Apple-free household (no specific hatred for Apple, just preference) and I get that all the time.
I don't like to help Steve Jobs in his quest for world domination. That being said, I do have an iPod that I really like. And do I have an iPad, but the only reason I've got one is that I won it off a local TV station's contest. I don't think I'd ever buy one.

My husband actually does reviews for Android central. When he reviewed his Motorola Xoom tablet and explained why he chose it over the Ipad 2 he had a bunch of people freak out on him.
Thanks! While I'm not looking at the Xoom, it lead me to something that I did have questions about. We're finally getting new cells phones and I had already settled on the Droid X. Now I'm really happy I picked that one!

And I have to admit that I have a bit of a thing for Android, but that's because of my obsession with all things Google!

It is not cheap..I think there are also cheaper versions (Check Wally World).

Now if you have a computer..apparently there are much cheaper options to convert ... http://www.walmart.com/search/search...%20dvd&_tt=VHS

Him: Dude I know what I am talking about. I have a $6,000 laptop. I have an iPhone. Clearly I know more then you do.

He then storms off. Just as a reminder the "4G" on the iPhone name indicates "4th Generation" not "4G speed." But yeah that guy certainly is an candidate for tin foil hat indeed.
ahhh the good old "I know more than you because I own something/have been to something and it makes me an expert!"

LOL there was a girl I used to be friends with (ditched her crazy ass a year of so ago) who used to say gems like that. When I was arranging my wedding and told her that it's really hard to invite everyone you want to invite, and organising weddings is hard she came out with this gem "I've gone to more weddings than you have, I think I know more about them than you". yes, because GOING to a wedding is the same as planning one?

I'm just stunned that someone would be so unclear on the concept of a garage sale that he would suggest you purchase stock to sell.
I'm not really surprised. I saw a complaint like that over at PFB or M3C... customer wanted Kmart to order in more Christmas supplies after Christmas... so she could buy them on discount.

personally the last time i went to a garage sale, when I saw that the coffee table I wanted was $4 I was HAPPY. It was the perfect size for me... and 1/4 the price of the cheapest ones in the store. I'm not going to bitch about a deal like that.

In fact, when I moved... I made a point of bringing it with me.

Mrs. Loony: You know you shouldn't be eating in public like that.
                  Me: Sorry. Accidentally slept-ed in.
Mrs. Loony: That's no excuse. In fact that's terrible service. Its clear you aren't in charge of this garage sale. I want to speak to the manager of this sale.
This is taking place at your own house, correct? Not an actual store? Who the heck does she think the manager is?!

She must be related to the schmuck who wants you to buy John Wayne VHS tapes to sell to him at a loss.
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

Yes, it was both. As Lego.wiki.com explains it:
Ok I held out but the best part is that my sons name is Jack. No, I'm serious.

My old neighbours used to have a garage sale every few months.

They also would go to every one they could to find bargains to sell at their own (they were both retired, saw it as a hobby rather than moneymaker)

Some of the antique/second hand dealers would do the same thing, but would turn up at 6am when it was clearly advertised/signposted with an 8am start.

One week a dealer turned up at their one looking damp, when it was a nice sunny day.
Later they found out that the guy had arrived at 6 and knocked (very loudly) on someones door.
The homeowner was just out of the shower and had a bucket that he used to water his plants using the cold water that came through before the hot. That bucket was beside the front door.
Owner answered the door and the dealer demanded to see what he had for sale.
He recieved an answer with the bucket.

It's like trying to get laid by showing a girl your resume.
Look, I was good at Biology and Woodwork.
So I know where stuff is and I'm good with my hands.

I do have to say that my sister admitted after her wedding that she should have listened to more of my advice. Have I planned a wedding? No. But I've photographed I don't know how many anymore, some as an "extra" and some as the only photographer.

Because you have to be so attuned to everything around you and the schedule and everything else, photographers know how to ensure things run smooth and people get out and dance and stuff like that. You know, make it a fun and less stressful time for everyone.

I agree with you overall, but there are exceptions! Your friend was a twit though.

This is all great to know, I am having my first-ever yard sale (a community sale) in a few weeks. Any more advice? We're already offering free mediocre gift wrapping with every purchase.
