A week or two ago I had a family come in and look around. It was probably their first time in the store because their oldest child looked like she was no older than five. First thing out of the dad's mouth:
Dad: Do we get a discount if my daughter's name is the same as your store? hyuk hyuk.
Me: Unfortunately, we don't have a name discount. The whole store's 40% off, though!
Dad: But her name's Bustice! We should get an extra discount!
Me: Sorry!
So dad and little girl walk around pointing out how everything in the store has the little girl's name on it. They repeat this several times. Mom and two other kids come in, and I know they're all part of the same group because the little kids are playing with each other and Mom and Dad are talking to each other. So while Mom's looking, Dad comes over and talks to the manager and me. It's all well and good, but they're not watching their kids. So while manager and Dad are talking, little boy (who must've been like three years old... he was adorable) goes over to our ball bin and takes out a ball. Which is fine, I mean, he's a small child. What's the worst that could happen?
He then throws the ball so we can play catch. So I catch the ball and hand it back to him. Then he hands me the ball (gently, and at least his parents taught him to share!) and grabs another ball. And sets it down at my feet. And then grabs another ball. And sets it down. Then, he grabs a smaller ball out of our "toy box" area and kinda starts drooling all over it.
Dad asks one more time about a name discount. In my head, I go "Well, since you insist...." but I tell him no.
They finally leave without buying anything, and I'm left to clean off and put away balls that are strewn about the store.
