NO, people suck at math. Why else would they constantly complain about the cost of gas to me, be driving a lexus and spending $40 at a time on lottery..... Hello, put that "extra" money in the your gas tank if it is so expensive.

I also love the people who will complain about the price and drive around looking for the best price, spending any savings in gasoline. I mean when I'm bored I do "shop around" but for special trips to a place I already know what I'm getting and what is a good deal.

For passport photos I found most places are pretty much within a dollar or two of each other, and the Aid of Rite is horrible compared to the Green wall when it came time to take the photo.... AoR sold my mom a photo where the white balance was so far off she looked white like a sheet of paper. instead of you know, flesh colored.
I don't get the driving around for gas prices either. If it's $.05 less at Station B than Station A, and you put in 10 gallons ... that's a whopping $.50. There's just not that much variation (around here, anyway) to make it worth my while driving all over town.

Some stations habitually sell fuel for higher prices than others, at least around here. The higher prices are at the ones in the middle of the city and on major roads. Cheaper prices can be found at places which are a little out of the way.

So if you drive around on the main roads, you'll get no discernable improvement and just waste fuel. But if you know where some back-street places are, you can sensibly drive to look at their prices.

Around here -- Shell has a deal where you save $ on their gas for buying groceries at a specific chain. As soon as that started, their average price went up 10-15c/gal and has stayed there. Even in cases where there is a *direct competitor* across the street, and sometimes even when there are two! o_O The worst offender is the one next to "Doctors' Row", which is another 25c/gal above THAT.

Aside from them, it's pretty much what was said above -- stations on the main drag are competitive with one another, tho some are +5~10c/gal based on placement (near the airport or next to the offramp of the Causeway (a 24-mile long over-water bridge), etc...)

The flip side is the people who mis-hear me when I quote the price after taxes $16.94. and hand me a WAD of twenties.

            "60?"

The funny thing is... The people who hear the correct price are usually the ones that balk and freak out. "16 dollars! Oh my god!! This is criminal... etc..."

But those who think it's 60 bucks... Hand it over like nothing... LOL

Obviously it bears repeating, seeing as it holds true around these parts too.

I got the photo done for my passport at Walgreens, but to get the actual passport was expensive at the post office. Thankfully I got it done before they raised the fee.
