Mmmm, I used to use that a lot, but switched to Florida Crystals sugar...now that mom's baking much more, I should go back to the nectar (fewer fights upon an eleventh-hour baking discovery that there's no sugar in the house ). It's probably better for me too.

There used to be an old guy haunting my local DD who would order a senior coffee (small size) with "extra extra cream and 14 Equals" (that would be what, about a teaspoon of actual coffee?) Haven't seem him in awhile, maybe his odd coffee habit finally killed him off?

No carbs, maybe, but doesn't heavy whipping cream have a pretty high fat content?
      Cream pretty much IS fat.

As far as the whippng cream goes, some people equate healthy with "doesn't cause weight gain". There's also a view in our society that thin=healthy. That's not necessarily true.
Fats do get stored in the body as fat, it just takes a bit more effort for the body to store it that way.
      Seshat's self-help guide:
      1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
      2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
      3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
      4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

Just because the cream has lots of fat doesn't make it unhealthy - it becomes unhealthy when you consume the fat WITH carbohydrates. If you're eating a low-carb diet, you have to get your energy somehow - and that's where the fat comes into play. Gary Taubes has written a couple of excellent books on the exact biological mechanism for this, and why often people who are on low carb/high fat diets end up with BETTER lipid profiles than people eating low fat. Throws right in the face of the "fat is bad" dogma, and there's sound science as to why it works.

          Pet Peeves

The more I work in customer service, the more the little things bother me.

Me: Hi, how are you today?
SC: Medium coffee cream and sugar.

          Me: Hi, ho-
SC: Can I get a classic egg and cheese with bacon on a bagel?

Is it really that hard to answer a simple question? It's just good manners.

          SC: How are ya?
          Me: I'm good, ho-
SC: I want an iced latte.

          STOP INTERRUPTING ME!

Meh, I think that's all I can think of for now. I love my job, but the little things really build up after a while.
I don't know when it was, but at some point in the service industry, I stopped even paying attention to the "how are you" things...most people never answered, and if they asked me how I was, they never waited for an answer.

It's weird, since I would find the one person who actually held that part of the conversation correctly, and for a second, it seemed alien to me. I couldn't actually define what the hell just happened.

I think that means my soul is bleeding out.

I thought Derpy was a fan of muffins, mostly. But I bet she likes donuts just as much.

We have a lady that gets a large iced coffee made with 15 splenda and heavy whipping cream.

Only she really wants so much heavy whipping cream that it's really only about three ounces of coffee in a 24 oz cup.

And she says it's healthy because the heavy whipping cream has no carbs.
She ought to chow down on a C15 Cat, an ISX Cummins, or a Series 60 Detroit. Definitely a healthy snack - no carbs (diesels are fuel injected), and plenty of iron.

Bah. I've started using agave nectar in my coffee. Very tasty.
With the customers you write about, I wouldn't be surprised about you putting agave nectar in your coffee - especially if the nectar has been fermented and distilled.

That's kinda the whole point. If you can't digest it, it can't add calories. I started using splenda in my coffee because of how ridiculously sweet I like it (1/4 cup splenda in a regular mug of coffee I make at home.)
it's a laxative-so yeah not real good for you....
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes

Hey everybody, long time no see. I have since switched jobs back from being a call center rep back to my wonderful job selling donuts and coffee. The switch was extremely refreshing, and I'm really happy to be back at a job that isn't so stressful. The pay cut was so worth it.
I just did something similar; quit my evil office job to go back to the fabric store. It's only money; it's not worth destroying yourself over.

Me: Hi, what can I get for you today?
SC: A medium iced latte with cream and sugar!
Me: Lattes aren't actually made with cream. They're an espresso shot made with mostly milk.
                        SC: ... Wat?
Me: When lattes are made, they're made using a shot of espresso and then adding milk to it. There's no cream involved. I can still add sugar though if you'd like.
                        SC: Wat?
Me: Would you like that made with whole milk or skim milk?
                        SC: .. Whole milk?

I don't think I'll ever understand people who order food at a restaurant without knowing what it even is.
Honestly, I think they're trying to look cool by ordering the "in" thing, without even figuring out what the hell it is!

What's funny though is that small children ten and under will look at our donuts, read the labels and tell us what kind of donuts they want, but adults will always, always just point at the donut and say "I want that one!".
Apparently these small children haven't figured out yet that stupidity pays off. Let's hope they never do.
