Does anyone remember the Davis Case with Bellsouth?

Put me in with the folks with no sympathy for Bellsouth. Yes, the customers were jerks for stealing from the company, but really, honest customers should've been bailing from the crooks, anyway.

And if the order hadn't been filed that way, Bellsouth probably would've made every customer who had a legitimate complaint jump through a series of hoops to get the refund they were owed.

Freemage makes a good point. If it hadn't been phrased so that anyone ringing in had to be credited, then chances are that Bellsouth would have made a long, difficult process for people to get their credit. I would imagine most would have discovered how much it took and not bothered, and most of those that did would still have been told, "Sorry, you don't have enough evidence/meet the requirements."
Just my thoughts, but then again I am a cynical beech
