This weekend in Mass. every thing under $2500 is tax free. This has been nothing but a gigantic pain in my @$$ all weekend. I mean I guess my stories could be a lot worse but for these reasons alone I just poured myself a beer.
Yesterday I got to work at 11 and due to the manager being a fricken idiot who cant write a proper schedule there were 3 registers open with all lines with about 10 people in them. So I dropped my purse in locker and clocked in and jumped on to ring. I found out the reason that the lines were all so long is because our computer systems didnt load the No Tax so for every item you had to do a tax modify. I got lucky. I had a lady come through my register with a stack of scrapbook paper all different sizes and design that had to be rung in she had at least 100 sheets. So needless to say I was not a happy camper. Finally after about 2 hours the lines died down enough and I took the chance and ran from the register while I could. I spent rest of my shift answering questions about the tax free weekend. Didnt think it was a hard concept to understand but apparently it is.
Today I was scheduled to be in at 9. When I get there I see people standing at the doors knocking trying to get into my store. There was also a line of at least 20 people waiting to get in. Needless to say I almost turned my car around to go back to bed. Apparently Corporate in there wisdom has decided to make tax free weekend more fun by posting online that the first 50 people in the store get a $10 coupon off purchase. Unfortunately the computer system didnt want to recognize or honor the $10 coupon and had to be forced through the system with managements numbers. Needless to say this caused long lines and bitching customers. lol.
Me personally I dont see tax free weekend or the $10 coupon reason to get up early on a Sunday to go shopping and to then harass the underpaid retail staff. Wanted to tell the people to get a life. Glad to be home
