Some one needs to be fired over this. There has to be SOME ONE with enough clout to do an audit of this new process, figure out how much money they are losing (and thus how much of their bonuses are being flushed down the tubes) and then FIRE the idiots who came up with this and approved it!

Ah, but you forget how corporate America works. The boneheaded idiot who came up with this money loser will not be fired. He will either get a promotion, a bonus, or both.

All because he can truthfully claim to have increased customers entering the door.

If, or maybe more appropriately when, this happens, I agree people should be fired for it.

But this is Wally World we're talking about. The 800-pound gorilla in the retail room. Many many people shop only there. As long as they're not price-matching heaping carts full of stuff, the company is probably still coming out ahead.

This is why stores do price matches: because they figure you'll buy profitable stuff at full price along with the one or two things you're having price-matched.

As well it should be, if you ask me. I had a regular customer at the first Wally World I worked at who would price match everything in her cart, for ridiculous prices, and conveniently "forget" her ads every time. And it was always, "Oh, CSM So-and-so said I could do it, just this once." Of course, this was when she wasn't switching price stickers and then throwing a fit because the barcode still knew what price the product was supposed to be.
