So, it was a few weeks after Christmas and very busy ( January Sales). There were only 2 of us downsatirs in the Books and Entertainment Departments. I was doing something vital to Ents and Lucy, my co-worker, was on the tills. I was trying to get my work done while keeping an eye on the tills. Well, I heard Lucy ring the bell to let me know she needed help, so I came over to help.
I see about 5 people at the till and Lucy says "Jaime, can you help this lady, she has been waiting for quite a while". She didn't indicate who needed help, and I saw a woman looking at me, so I said to her "how can I help"? Well, it wasn't her...and the lady that needed help said rather nastily, "I have been waiting, not her". I apologized and asked her how I could help. She said that she needed a revision book for her daughter for school. So, I took her over to the school books. I asked her what her daughter wanted to revise for. She says "science". So, I asked her if she had had a look yet, and she says "well, no...why should I"?. Okaaaayyy.....so I ask her if she knows what publisher she needs, because alot of schools require that the kids get certain publishers books. She says "now, how am I supposed to know that"? I tried to explain to her that sometimes the teachers tell the kids. She goes off on one and says "You should know what I need, afterall, you work here and another thing, you haven't even TRIED to help me at all"! I said "Well, I am sorry that you feel that way, but I have been trying to find out what you need, but you won't tell me. And I did not go to school in this country, so it is a bit difficult for me, but I am trying. How am I supposed to know what your child wants"? She said "You have been rude to me from the beginning and YOU WORK HERE, so you should be able to find what I am looking for and I don't care if you didn't go to school here, it is not MY problem". I said "you have been being rude to me when all I am doing is trying to establish what you need, I will get someone else to help you". She sais "you do that" I said "I will".
So, I asked someone to help her and of course she told this person exactly what she needed...publisher and all! She was nice as pie to the other girl and of course she complained to the manager. This was the first complaint that I got for being honest when it looks like I am just lazy, and telling customers that I did not go to school in England, so I will try my hardest to help them.
I just think she was on of those people....you know?

) how they automatically expect someone to know each and every item within the store, never mind that there are hundreds/thousands of items, you should know, in detail, each item and be able to tell them everything they want to know, no matter how vague they are about the item(s) in question.
