A good way to make biting kid cry for biting you without laying a hand on them is to ask for a refund on said item(s) you bought for the child. Make sure the kid sees the refund and then leave the store with your products minus the kid's treats. Wait until the banshee wailing tantruns cease then explain why it is wrong to bite and that some people can and will hit him/her HARD if he bites someone he does not know. When the child realizes that biting gets privliges revoked the bititng should cease.

My aunt did this to my cousin. and a few earth shattering tantrums later he got the hint that its not cool to bite.

That's how my mom was, and that's how my sister is with her three kids. If one of the little buggers bites, you darn well bite 'em back.

Needless to say, they don't do it more than once or twice.
