    Well, now, a lot of that would depend on why you're using the escalator. They're there in the first place to help those who can't handle stairs, whether it be issues with joints, fatigue, whatever.

    I don't actually have a disability, myself, but there have been some days where walking up a flight of stars just wasn't going to happen right then.

      Nope, no Ikeas anywhere near here, I work in a cinema/movie theatre.

        Odd, there are signs* on some of the escalators near me that specifically say not to walk in the same direction on them due to safety concerns.

        *Not an SC, therefore I can see and comprehend signs.
