  • SC Temper Tantrum from hell

Yet another XSC (eXtremely Sucky Customer) from the furniture restoration company my wife works at.

And boy howdy this one's a doozy.

To start off she had a woman submit for insurance repair (among other items) a painting that she says needs to be fixed.

    MW - My Wife
XSC - the reason this site exists

(after having everyone in the shop look it over)
MW - So what exactly needs repair on the painting?
XSC - I don't know! Just fix it!

lather, rinse, repeat over the course of several days even to the point of e-mailing the woman a photo of the painting with the instruction for her to draw a circle on the area that needs repair. No such luck.

As annoying as that was and as sucky as the customer is, this isn't the really sucky part. That comes later.

Anywho, my wife's company is going out there to drop off the stuff that was repaired. As they were unloading and carrying the 200-lb card table (solid metal with an enameled finish) this whackjob climbed into the truck, looked at the statue that was repaired for her (roman soldier with a spear), noticed that the spear wasn't repaired to her satisfaction and...

    You'll love this part

...threw (yes, picked up and lofted into the air) it off the back of the truck.

Now we'll never know how the statue's repair offended (and considering the painting it may have been some microscopic defect that she was only able to register on a sub-conscious level) her since the statue is in even worse shape than when the movers broke it in the first place. Neither my wife, the company she works for, nor the insurance adjuster know how to deal with this situation. Making it worse, the woman isn't returning any phone calls from anyone.

In theory and in a Utopian universe the psychotic nut ball should now be responsible for the damages done, but everyone is resigned to the fact that someone at the upper echelons of the insurance company will decide to eat the repair/replacement cost of the item just to get this anal-dwelling twat monkey off everyone's back.

Just things to make you go "What the @#$%?"

I never lost my faith in humanity. Can't lose what you never had right?

Unbelieveable, this is why i prefer phone support, you don't have to deal with these psychos face to face.

I think it should go down like this. Charge her, obviously, for whatever work was done, she lost all rights to protesting what she was charged the moment it went airborn. If the statue is still in your wife's company's posession store it off to the side, send a few certified letters telling the lady to come pick it up, keep track of all attempts of communication. After a month or so of not hearing back, consider the property abandoned, then fix the statue and sell it.

I agree with this. Employees witnessed her fling the statue, so therefore, if she wants the new damage fixed, she'll have to pay for it. If she had pointed out the flaw that bugged her, you guys could've fixed it to her liking. Now she's S.O.L. really. But then again, we all know how corporate boss brains think!

          Nope, still can't.

What the hell was her problem? The Roman soldier's spear not erect enough for her -- wait, not going down that side street.

I hope this woman didn't procreate. To be so petty as to throw something, rather than explain why it's not fixed to her satisfaction, I pray to whatever god(s) there are that your company doesn't eat the cost of the repairs...

            Wow. I mean... just... wow.

When did a statue show up in the story? I could've sworn the woman brought in a picture...?

Maybe she had the picture AND a statue to be fixed?

Either way, what a nutjob. The minute she tossed the damn thing, you should've exercised your right to refuse service to anybody.

And if she points out the damage that was not fixed, then you simply point out that the damage in question might have come from her tossing around crap.

The woman had a table, painting, and statue being repaired.

Yes, I already know about the condition priapism (not firsthand, though), but I just have to see what set Spiffy off, so!
