Yeah, I spent the last 2 hours of my shift sitting in the office turning down calls because I wasn't about to send my guys and my trucks out into that mess.... fortunately it started raining that sent everyone home.

Since I don't know any better: why would a person who is willing to abandon a car bother paying you folks to dispose of it?

When my old VW Rabbit's engine caught on fire as I was driving up the highway I pulled into the breakdown lane and fully intended to abandon it as I hitchhiked back home.

The truck driver that picked me up told me I should call the state police, let them know I am taking care of the car and then call a junkyard and pay them to get it. He said the state police would have the car towed and I would be hit with fines and fees if I just abandoned it. I'm not sure if this is true, it may vary from state to state and it might be because I was on a state highway but he said at some point I would not be able to renew my drivers license until after all the fines were paid and they would only increase over time.

Call me stupid or smart but I headed his advice and had the car disposed of.

Sarcasm doesn't come over well in this medium. To me tipped over vehicles indicate either Columbus or East Lansing. I didn't think Penn State had the same type of crazies.
