  • There's one in every town

Second day of the small-town store being open, and there was some excitement, which I largely missed.

I went to go ask one of the other support helpers something when I noticed a big clot of employees standing around somebody lying on the ground complaining she can't feel her toes. So obviously this was not the time to go barging in asking questions about furniture, so I went to do other things.

A little later I noticed a couple cops in the store talking to the woman lying on the ground.

Even later I got the story. The woman was seen to sit down on the floor, and then laid down, where she proceeded to have a panic attack, I guess.

But when the cops came to see what was going on, they went up to the woman and said "Hi Roseanne (Not her real name.)(As far as I know.). What is it this time?"

Apparently she goes places and goes full-on meatball and has these "panic attacks" as a way of seeking attention, and the police in this town are very aware of this and let us know that this was the first of probably several times we'll be dealing with her doing this.

The woman was in the store with another female we assumed to be her daughter. The daughter just seemed stressed out and not at all unfamiliar with her mom's shenanigans. I feel bad for her.

Meh, at least she's not going all Van Gogh In His Brown Period in the restroom.

    Yet...

I feel sorry for the daughter too. I don't think my grandmother ever did things quite that crazy because she was also vain and would have turned up her nose at making that kind of scene. However, I bet she was quite a bitch in stores when she wanted to be and I'm sure my mom had to deal with it. I don't remember how she handled it...then again, maybe my grandma was always on her best behavior in public and saved up all her crazy for her family (and neighbors).
