My co workers and I get this thrown at us all the time - sometimes in reverse!

We work for an online shop selling creams and crap that help lighten up skin tones. So we either get those who pull tantrums when they dont get their own way stating we are racists (cus you can tell over the phone what colour someone's skin is! Durr!) or we get called racist names meant for ethnic folks by those assuming we are Indian or Pakistani (we are all white). Seriously, dont even try cus you never know who or from where the person you are butting heads with comes from!

I can imagine how frustrating and outrageous it must be for those working face to face with customers getting race or nationality or religion thrown at them.

Oh I dunno, it can be really funny at times.

For the record, I am pale. I am so pale that I glow in the dark. I have had people accuse me of all sorts of things.

      Some of the funnier ones;
Being asked where in Africa/Caribbean I'm from just from hearing my voice. (That one really confuses me, my accent is more towards Scottish considering my caregivers when I was learning to talk.)
Have a person come up to me and call me various racial slurs (not ones directed at white people).
Be accused that I am being difficult because I am of <religion> (I'm mostly atheist with some leanings towards zen/karma)
Be accused that I am being difficult because I hate <religion/group> (No, I hate stupidity and EWs)

The area I grew up in was primarily settled by Italians, Scandinavians, Brits, and a smattering of other languages/groups. The community I work in was founded and primarily populated by a Russian ethnic group. Always fun when being sworn at in one of the languages settled here, and me casually answering in english.
(The funny part, where I grew up and work, is only 30-40km away from each other.)

Being a very mixed race...hard to hate anybody due to race. I have American Indian, German, Italian, Scottish..and rumors of African American and Gypsy blood. Now my parents are somewhat biased, which I never quite understood, but since I am basically a heinz 57...why on earth would I ever be prejudice against anybody else. I can pass as 'Caucasian' except for my eyes though..they are slightly slanted. (Oh yes, forgot may have Asian blood, but honestly think it is the American Indian in me)
Engaged to the amazing Marmalady. She is my Silver Dragon, shining as bright as the sun. I her Black Dragon (though good honestly), dark as night..fierce and strong.

One time when I was working at the magic bar, this one idiot kept making anti-Semitic remarks, apparently not realizing that I am of Jewish descent. Act like a human, I'll treat you like one. Act like a turd, I'll treat you like one.
          Starts about 1 minute in.
          and this one too.

Sandy Gutman is Jewish and his Father survived the Holocaust. He was the only one in his family that survived.

When an SC has no valid point there's always the race card.
"I'm sorry, but your race card has been declined. Do you have another form of entitlement you want to use?"

            XD Had to be said.

I'm think you're right on this because many Travellers do feel they are being unjustly persecuted, even today.
I don't think it's unjust. I think they have been justly persecuted, for all that they have done, all the negative bullsh--

Wait...who are the Irish Travellers? I haven't the foggiest idea who they are, I don't think I've ever even heard of them, so as much as I'd like to join with everyone else who hates them--none of them being anyone I actually know--I'm afraid I just can't join in the persecution that they seem to believe EVERYONE is meting out to them.

True story: my father was in the U.S. Army in the early Fifties, and was station in Germany. He actually had a German tell him that he was, and I quote, "too nice to be Jewish." My father never knew quite how to take that one!

My point in asking "Who are they?" was not really to learn who they were, but to point out that I've never really heard of them, so therefore can't hate them as much as they think everyone does. In Ireland they may be downtrodden, but the rest of the world neither knows nor for the most part cares who they are. Not that you would know it from their apparent victimist mentality.
