Happens all the time at the call center. Part of my opening spiel is to ask for the person's name, and of course just a first name is fine, but if I need to look up an order or verify the person's info - yeah, I'm gonna need a little more to go on. It's not that hard, people.
Today in the training class I'm in we listened to a couple of previously recorded calls. One agent got a guy who said his name was John. She said (as we are trained to do) "So that is J-O-H-N, correct?" and he said "J-O-H-N-N-Y, yeah.".
He was a nice guy and all that, but geez, pick one!
I was thinking more like Amy Pond would never be that stupid and she'd probably slap the shit out of the OP's "Amy" for sullying the intelligence of anyone else with that name
