Sure once again our bank would reimburse us for any fraudulent purchases, but only after their investigation which can take weeks.
Ouch. I'd hate to have your bank. I've had some fraudulent activity out of my bank account (neither tied to my card), and both times, the bank gave me the money back, and then did their investigation.

The part that annoys me most, is that I didn't even ask for this "convenience" it is being forced upon me, and I can't refuse it.
But you can "kill" the chip. I would. That technology is far too immature, yet, for me to trust it for such.

Having worked in retail for the first 12 working years of my life, I learned to be a real stickler when it came to CC transactions! .
Agreed. Even if I don't require a signature I still check to see that the card belongs to the customer.

Also, the banks are bringing in a new system called Pay-Wave.
Some banks and stores around here are doing that. I've never used it and I'm in no rush to.

...all those reasons that I refuse to get/use a debit card. Thanks, but I'll keep using my credit cards, and mailing in the check every month.
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

Another one for "Please at least look at my damn card" here...Quite honestly, it freaks me out when places just take it without question. Fortunately, around here, it takes awhile for "new" trends, stupid or otherwise, to trickle down; grocery stores still at least make you sign and they look at the last 4 digits on your card if you pay with credit and the total is above $25

Is it a law or policy that you don't need a signature for under $25? I've never heard of that. I've always had to get signatures for everything.
There have been a couple of times at the grocery store where my purchase was under a certain amount and they didn't require a signature. (I almost always use cash at the grocery store, and I rarely use my card, so don't have that much experience with it.) I have no idea, though, whether it's store policy, credit card company policy, local law, state law, federal law, or what.

On another note, as a bartender, whenever anyone gives me a card and it has written on the back some form of "PLEASE SEE ID," I will ask for ID. How many of you are shocked to know that when I do this, a good majority of the people tell me I am the first person to do so on their vacation.

            Shocking, I know.

These days with the machines where you can just swipe it, pluss ok, and sign the machine I am finding fewer and fewer places that ever look at the card
