I did call around and found the Motel 6 had some rooms, but when I told people that they would turn up their nose like I had insulted them.
First of all, what's wrong with the Motel 6 chain. I've been to my fair share of them. They're not fancy, they're not ever going to be considered a four star hotel, but as long as they're clean and comfortable I don't care. I'm looking for a place to park my ass for a night or two, nothing more.

Secondly, if someone wants to stay in an area then they need to bloody well make reservations. Solves a hell of a lot of problems.

Thirdly if I go somewhere on a whim and find myself needing a hotel when I didn't expect to and someone tells me "Sorry, we're booked but the Motel 6 has rooms" then my answer would be "Really? Thanks...how do I get there?"
I never lost my faith in humanity. Can't lose what you never had right?

1 - nothing, most are actually good.
2 - Normal people who plan ahead, yes..sc's...good luck with that.
3 - Yes but you are not an EW..who thinks they are too good for such mundane places as a hotel 6.

I just LOVE it when someone comes up to the desk, TOSSES their credit card, and says "I need a smoking room, one bed" (or something similar) when we're sold out.
This happened last fall. Mrs. TGK and I got behind an SC who did that. SC was pissed when told that all the open rooms were reserved and would be available after 9:00PM (about 4 more hours).
While SC was storming off, I handed the desk clerk my confirmation e-mail and credit card....If looks could kill, desk clerk, Mrs. TGK and I would not be here now.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

Reading this post has my eye twitching thinking of 5 years playing the underpaid untitled front desk manager hotel. I dont know which was worse lying travel agents who made ridiculous promises of the hotel or people who would come to town demanding n/s room with king size bed and would only want to pay $75. One day the Asst manager who had a drinking problem knew I was already in a crappy mood from guest. Came to me when a n/s king came available and he suggested letting all the people who came in without a reservation invite them to have a royal rumble in the lobby and who ever won the match could pay double the running rate. Lol made me crack up and made night go a little better thinking of that
