Correct me if I am wrong, but how does cancelling the card get you out of any charges you made to it prior to cancelling? If this girl racked up a huge tab at another bar and then cancelled the card *after* shouldn't she still end up with a bill from the credit card company for what she owes?

Of course, I'm sure she *thought* she was being clever but I just don't see how that would work.

Dave - yep. I'm betting she's going to be in for a BIG surprise when she gets her bill. (or arrested for fraud)

My mom yelled at us too, which sometimes worked and sometimes not...she was also a stay at home mom. She had two big backup weapons: 1) tears (we didn't like to make her CRY!!) and 2) "wait till your dad gets home". We did have respect for our mom, though...we tested her patience but didn't treat her like crap or walk all over her.
