How the heck did he get on a plane with no photo ID when the TSA is strip searching people now?

A few years ago (but well after 9/11), I lost my wallet just prior to flying. All I had was a college ID. They let me on the plane...eventually. 1st, I got the super duper deluxe patdown-any more groping and the TSA agent would have made it to 2nd base with me. Then, I got asked a couple random questions (seemed to be stuff pulled from my credit report-who my student loans were with was one question, I think). My carry on was disassembled into its constituent atoms and swabbed for explosives before being reassembled into an incoherent mass. But hey, I was clean, and they let me through.
