Am I the only one that's ever been reduced to standing in the living room with a new DVD on the floor....desperately trying to hack through the packaging with a katana?

On a side note its hard to accomplish even with a katana.

Nevermind if you buy something like a mouse or other small computer accessory thats in that god foresaken sealed clear plastic mold package. Sweet Christ licking the syrup off the plate at IHOP those are the most horrific packages known to man.

Unless you have a blown torch and some gardening sheers you WILL be bleeding by the time you make it to the product inside. ><

I guess I've been pretty lucky...what my kitchen shears could not handle, my tin snips could. It takes a few minutes since the blades are so short, but they seem to work ok.
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

Worse than electronics are today's dolls. Getting the package open is only half the fun. They're fastened to a piece of cardboard by 800 twist-ties. The ends of these ties are taped or (when the dollmaker feels particularly evil) glued to a strip of plastic. Sometimes the doll's clothes are sewn to the cardboard with a fine thread. So far, not too annoying, only about 8 hours of work. But then the doll's hair is stitched to a piece of plastic. And not stitched with ordinary thread, oh goodness no. They made a thread of hard plastic. They didn't used to do this when I was little. The dumbest thing is that the only thing the hair is stitched to is the strip of plastic. It has no effect as a theft-deterrent, it's just there.

And I know this because.... look, it's not like I play with them or anything.... shut up.

Exactly. These aren't the droids you're looking for. He can go about his business. Move along.
