Oh man I remember the first time a patron ("Guest", saying customer was grounds for termination) caused me to burst out in tears.

It was fundraiser night, hundreds of children from a poor school in Trenton were running about getting the proceeds of the night raised for their school. They gathered us all up for a group picture. Now, the kids had been angels from the beginning but somehow this group dynamic turned them into devils. One decides to punch my big head. The other starts tugging on my shirt. Other kids catch sight of this and then before I know it I have 4 punching me in the face, two trying to yank my head off, one trying to stuff himself in my shirt, two trying to take my shoes off, 3 on each leg, 1 kicking me as hard as he possibly could in the small of my back and two punching me in the stomach and boobs.

There was a bit of panic because having my head yanked off is also grounds for termination. Children are not allowed to know visually that Chuck E. Cheese is not real, and for them to see a human head would be disasterous.

so I'm sitting there trying to get them off but law states I'm not allowed to touch the kids in a derrogatory or angry manner. The more I tried to remove their stubby little fingers the more they pinched and punched and the more swarmed me. Eventually it was like that scene in Resident Evil where the zombies all moved in on the one poor slob stuck in the mob. I raised children up who were pinching my arms, atttemping t omake the Time Out signal (Which signals a cast member that I need assistance). As is per the norm, nobody came to my aid.

The GM turned around FINALLY to see... nto really a chuck e. I was curled into a ball on the ground being kicked in the ribs and tackled upon. I was also sobbing because there was nothing I could do. Retaliate and lose my job & be sued, go into the back and be followed and found out and lose my job. Speak and lose my job. All I could do was shield myself. (don't laugh, remember this was an ENTIRE K-8 school, so I had a few renegade 12 and 13 year olds REALLY planting them in my rib cage).

I actually have a photo of a bloody nose. A college student once punched the mask so hard it spun around sideways and cracked my nose. I was concussed and had a huge nose bleed.

Good thing that suit is at least a little padded and kids don't know how to accurately plant kicks, so nothing was damaged internally. Hurt to move for a few days though.

So for all those days you have to deal with belligerent customers, remember: You could be in the shoes of a Mascot, being beaten by 6 year old savages every day.

Please tell me your manager had some of the hellions arrested for battering you! That there was a shred of spine in that manager so he would stand up for his employee!

One little kid kicking you doesn't hurt that much. Several dozen, that hurts, especially when they're joined by older kids. I still say the little psychos should've spent some time in Juvenile Hall for the way they treated you. Rules, schmules, there is no excuse whatsoever to treat anyone that way and those brats should have been made to realize that there was a human being in that costume, and they are hurting her, and they need to be punished for it.
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.
