Threatening to go to the BBB is really no different than threatening to go to another store or yelling that they're never shopping here again. I think that customers must think it's a government organization that can force business into doing what they want.

My thoughts exactly!

SC: "What? What do you mean I have to pay my bill to keep my service? Well, I'll just take it up with the Best Business Bureau. They hate you guys and they'll make sure you don't take up this unethical practice! I'll even have my lawyer involved to sue your company."

Me (wishing I could say this): "Bring it on. By the way, if you don't have the money to pay your bill, what the hell are you using to retain an attorney?"
