Lying about what happened doesn't get you free stuff:
On above date around 6pm to 7pm My son and I visited your Store on our trip back through Everytown, USA. I purchased some drinks and some pastries. When the young lady rang me up I noticed the price on the pastries was wrong. The manager came by and was in a very bad mood said that customers are always changing the price so they can get stuff for free. I told him he was rude and not to make those kind of comments, he told me to get my money back and to take my business elsewhere if I was not satisfied. I told him I would be contacting your office, he said go ahead they wont do anything anyway. Ive traveled all over the country and this has been the only time ive had a bad experience at on of your stores. I hope you do something about this as a person like that manager is always bad for business. All we travelers want are clean bathrooms and a friendly smile thats not much to ask.
Manager's Response:
First of all, this customer needs to tell the truth about what really occurred. Customer was purchasing drinks and pastries. When the cashier gave him the total, he asked her to tell him how much she charged him per item. When she got to the raisin bread, she told him $2.29 . He said that was incorrect because the label said $1.19 . I walked over to check and a customer or someone had placed a couple of raisin breads with another pastry which was $1.19 . I explained to the customer that the label clearly indicated what was there among the raisin bread and he stated "no one reads that s__t and walked back to the register. He then instructed the cashier to refund his purchase and asked her if I (pointing at me) was her manager? She answered "yes" and he replied "not for long" and walked over to me and asked me if I liked my job? I said "yes" and he said I would not have it long after he was through with me and walked away. Nothing was ever said about him taking his business elsewhere, trying to get anything free or that no one was going to do anything anyway. No one was in a bad mood except for the customer.
Just a Funny-Stupid-too-much-sugar-in-your-coffee type complaint:
I love this location and enjoy stopping in during a neighborhood walk for refreshment - but I am sick to death of this pretentious-middle-class-affectation-hack-management-trend-o-tha-day of asking people what their name is in a fawning attempt to demonstrate how you’re my super awesomest BFF. If you have to ask my name, you're being invasive and rude – in fact, you’re not even asking…you are demanding which is to ask with the expectation that I must comply with your request.
If we've not been introduced, it is inappropriate to yell out my name. I know all the super high end stores, like Safeway, mcdonalds and Wal-Mart, and if hitler taught us anything its that if everyone is doing it and not saying anything it must be awesome. But grow a freaking brain cell. If the best your management can contrive is to emulate the high customer service standards set by mcdonalds then i think they've really cast a vote for themselves to be removed from the island. To make it worse, if none of you in management have the requisite intelligence to think, then when you insist on ramming your finger up my ass and telling me I should say thank you sir may I have another in response to your invasive and culturally disrespectful actions because you believe most people really really like this - then don’t demand my name when I order, and then not know it when you bellow out my order as "medium cawfee, I gotta medium kawfee here". I realize there were all of about five customers in the entire building at the time, most of whom had already been servied, so it must have been maddening and hella confusing and all - but seriously - that says friendly how?
Lets make a deal – I wont ask your employees to outline and graph in detail all their sexual encounters, and you don’t presume to act as if we’re on a first name basis and my culture needs to take a back seat to your management flavor of the month.
You have a point, but if the store's staff doesn't have the balls to call the police, maybe you should've instead of charging in ill-equiped for battle:
I always REALLY enjoy dinning at Anonymous Restaurant because of the restaurants proximity to our home, the courteous staff and comfortable surroundings. However, on this particular afternoon, some teenagers took over the restaurant. There were more than ten black and mexican boys, helping themselves to "free" soda. Not one of them made a purchase and they were allowed to steal soda and cups directly in front of staff and paying customers. After witnessing this repeatedly, I had to say something to the theives. So I politely asked him to pay for the soda, at least one dollar. He defiantly replied that he had no money. I said,"well then, don't steal anymore soda if you cannot pay for it!"
As soon as he reported to his gang out side of the front of the restaurant seated at the tables, ALL ten or twelve of them came marching in. One by one, helping themselves to free cups and soda, all the while starring my husband and me down with a look that said it all: "whatcha gonna do 'bout it bitch?!" I felt scared, intimidaded and humiliated and looked to the staff for assistance. I pointed to the boys once I had the cook's attention. He threw his hands up in the air and casually walked to the back to the kitchen. When the staff did nothing and looked the other way, the boys walked aimlessly around the restaurant; going to the bathroom, getting more soda, hanging out, and starring at me. My husband told me to hurry up and let's go. Of the other couples eating in the restaurant, nobody did a thing!
I could not believe that in a Democratic society, no justice was being done. Everyone looked away, but me. I should not have to be afraid to go out to eat at one of my favorite places because of little hoodlims taking over and intimidating the staff. What kind of managers allow that to happen? I should have called the police, but because I upset my husband for standing up for what I believe is right, (he felt I had placed his life in jeapordy) we immediately left. Perhaps those kids could have been carrying a gun, and could have shot us in Anonymous Restaurant for the staff allowing wanna-be thugs to take over the restaurant, and I was willing to take that chance because of what I believe is right and wrong, at that moment I did not care! But YOU guys would be dealing with my family because the blood would have been on YOUR hands. I urge you to please do something about the loitering teenagers after school in your restaurant. Justice has to prevail!
