Hello my name is tryme, I haven't posted in a little while

Bg: I work as a clerk in a hotel. I have been doing this for many many years.I meet the coolest people, yet I have some crazies! Here is some enjoy P.S. SIN CITY AREA ISHH!

SC- Run Run Run

Customer walks in the lobby
me- Hi, How are you doing today, How can I help you?
sc- I need a room for tonight
me- Spiel about prices for how many people, amenities yada yada, and that would be for $xx.xx
sc- Are YOU SERIOUS I COULD GO TO X CASINO(we are a 3 story hotel, probably the nicest in town) WHICH IS WAY F***ING NICER THEN THIS DUMP FOR HALF THE PRICE...(NOT ON A WEEKEND)
me- Ok well I could always give you a room at $xx.xx (10 dollars cheaper)
sc- F**K YOU LADY, GO TO HELL

Well I gave him a reallly low rate to begin with, but as he was a rude little biatch, I wasn't going any lower then that. As my curious little mind came about I called x casino and they were 100 dollars more then the rate I quoted, I have to love busy weekends in Vegas hehehe it pays to be nice to hotel clerks, and another side note, he came back an hour later wanting that rate, and we were sold out..buahahaha

DNR STORY
OK well we take care of another hotel we own next door at our lil old lobby. This hotel is an extended stay place, so we have alot of long term guests. They get the rooms at really low rates, because they don't get amenities. We have had a problem with some of the guests running a muck, fighting with each other, and being a major pain. I have had to call our cities finest several times to distress situations next door. As I cannot leave my lobby, and at night we don't have anyone else here. Well this middle aged man, we will call him Brian, is always talkative. At first it didn't bother me, but after a while, it got rather annoying as I'm trying to do my job he just talks and talks and talks. Well he was usually the center of all the drama next door. You could tell he either drank to much, or used drugs. He even told me I needed to escort him out of his room, because people were threatening to kill him...(yea the people in his head) Well one night this incident took place

Brian- Hey tryme, I need information on one of your guests here staying on this side of the hotel.
Me- I'm sorry Brian I do not give information out on any guests staying here.
Brian- Well he is a friend of mine I just want to make sure I'm knocking on the right door before I go up there( The room he is talking about is under a womans name, and the guy he is talking about is only her friend)
Me- Well I'm sorry Brian, I will not give this information out.
Brian- Well wtf I've lived in hotels and casinos most of my life all over the valley, I have a college DEGREE, I KNOW YOU CAN GIVE THIS DAMN INFO OUT, SO GIVE IT TO ME. I'M SMARTER THEN YOU, I KNOW I CAN GET THIS INFO.
me- Well Brian I have worked this desk for many years, and i can tell you right now, Your screaming is not going to get you anything, you aren't getting this information.
Brian- Well this is ridiculous, I can't get any info, and I've been threatened here, you are supposed to be my security, those guys NEXT DOOR ALWAYS TRY TO KILL ME, AND YOU DON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT
me- Well Brian I've called the police for you, and have told you before if it continues to call the cops(Everytime our cities best comes, the cops tell me there is nothing going on he is just looney)
Brian- (THIS QUOTE MADE ME GIGGLE) IT IS NOT THE COPS JOB TO PROTECT ME IT IS YOURS IF I CALL YOU YOU PERSONALLY HAVE TO COME OVER AND DO SOMETHING( mind you i am tiny, only 4'11.)
Me- Well it is the police's job to protect you.
BRIAN- FUCK YOU IT IS NOT( at this point he is screaming at the top of his lungs, about ready to come over the counter like he was going to hit me, so I'm feeling uneasy and just want him out of my lobby)
While he is still screaming his head off at me, now about absolutely nothing, I ask him politely to please keep his voice down or leave my lobby. THIS made him even angier and I'm feeling threatened at this point, and I don't ask him to leave my lobby. I TELL HIM GET OUT OF MY LOBBY NOW! He goes " SCREW YOU LITTLE GIRL, YOU WILL REGERET THIS, I'LL GET YOU. AND YOUR DOING A HORRIBLY GOOD JOB, ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS, BECAUSE IT WONT LAST LONG. Threatens my life, and my job...hmmm..ok GET OUT.. Well guess what, you are now on the tresspassed list, and the very next day you will be gathering out all ur stuff and getting off our property. My boss rocks, he told me I should have called the cops once he started threatening me!

What does "DNR" mean in the second story? I was thinking "do not ressucitate", but that doesn't seem to fit the story.

I agree with your boss, though. Don't hesitate to call the police if a customer starts threatening you.

I laugh when the SC's think they can get a cheaper rate with the competition on weekends and other peak travel times. A co-worker had an SC that wanted a hotel under $100/night in Virginia Beach, VA on the beach around Memorial day weekend at the last minute. Pfffffhahahahaha! Yeah, sure like that'll happen!


I think it's hilarious when the people that like to brag so much on how educated and smart they are really show how S-M-R-T they are.

People wonder why I am always so nice to the hotel clerks. I learned looooong ago that no matter how bad my day was, a smile and a friendly hello makes both of us feel better. I'm also not demanding. Only thing I ask for is a non-smoking room. I don't care if the bed is a king, queen or even a double. It's just me staying in the room so I don't need a huge bed.

I'm always surprised that people think that the casinos are cheaper than any other hotel on weekends. That is rarely true from what I've found. I'm in Vegas every week (*waves to Tryme*) The best weekend deals in town are in the places most wouldn't even think of. Get away from the Strip. There are so many better rooms for half the Strip price.

*waves back at arcus* Yes some of my guests really are ridiculous. We have a great rate for the hotel especially for everything we offer.

Yes dnr means do not rent, but I would go with do not resesitate, because if he was on fire, and i had water, I'd drink it lol!

Thanks for posting those stories, Tryme. It always amazes me how rude, and stupid people can be to people who are doing their job. I'd never even consider being that way to a hotel clerk. They work hard to make sure my stay (and everyone else's" is great.

This is so true. Everyone seems to talk about "The Strip" in Vegas. It's the end all and beat all. Yeah, it's nice, but I'd rather stay for around $20 a night at the Fitz (now called "The D") on Fremont St., which Ill be doing at the end of this month.

Frankly, I don't even like going to The Strip much.

Yeah, I'm so excited for vacation. And I'll be waving at Tryme.

I hate going to the strip, I only tend to go when it's a special occasion, birthdays and bach parties etc etc. Freemont street is awesome though! hello to all coming my way!!! Don't forget to try the zip lining while your on freemont, it's a wonderfull thrill.

Yeah, Brian was a ton of fun. Gross. She really is tiny, too! All of our desk clerks are though. I'm only 5' even, and the two other gals are only about 5' 1". What was the funniest about Brian was that he kept saying that Slick was the one out to get him, when Slick is one of my all time favoritist guests. We hugged and did a fist-bump when we got rid of Brian. We should share some more of our JoAnne stories now that she's gone, TRYME.
