  • Customers just don't read

They don't read signs, they don't read the things they sign, they don't seem to read anything at all.

Got a minor one today. Not hugely sucky, but it made me roll my eyes.

I put up a post about how I'm opening a single fursuit commission slot. I haven't been taking suits at all for most of this year because I got really burned out and was hating every project, so I had decided to try something different and not offer the slot first come, first served. Instead I'm picking the project I most want to make. I'll open more slots later for others, but for right now I want to dive back into it with something fun.

Anyway, the post has some VERY clear (I thought) directions.

It includes the following: "This is NOT first come first serve...
First: e-mail me at [email] and let me know you're interested in the slot. With your e-mail please include a description of your character, art of your character, or an *accurate* reference sheet...
Next: In three days I'll look through the e-mails I've gotten and pick the suit I'd like to make. Then I'll contact everybody and let them know if they've gotten the slot or if they need to wait for the next one."

First comment on said post: "can i have it"

Followed seconds later by an e-mail from the same person: "Hi i would like the slot please"

I replied with "Well, I'll be picking the suit I'd most like to make, so you'll need to e-mail me and tell me what suit you want, preferably with art or a good description of the character you want to get."

Immediately after that they e-mailed me with: "i am sorry nvm never mind about the commission"

So like I said, not hugely sucky, but really, learn to read, people!

It does kind of make me wonder what was going through their mind. The comment and e-mail were left literally within a couple of seconds of each other, as though they were afraid somebody else might get the spot first if they didn't act fast. If they wanted a suit from me so badly, why give up so quickly when you find out you can't automatically claim a spot?

Like you said, they probably thought it was first come, first serve and then realized it wasn't and that they didn't have anything lined up in the way of a good description or reference stuff for their suit.

At least they didn't throw a fit about it, unlike some. After all, we're supposed to be able to read their minds, dontcha know?
If I make no sense, I apologize. I'm constantly interrupted by an actual toddler.

Well if it was just not having material lined up, they've got three days to get it together. So it's still a bit odd. I would think that would be plenty of time, especially since all I actually need is a description.

      *shrug* People are weird.

Give them the slot, sew them into the suit and call animal control.

Oh and film it for YouTube.

and it's not just sewing commissions.

when my bf tries to scout for models for photo shoots, regardless of the fact that he actually lists the theme, what kind of shots he's planning to take... he still gets people writing him asking for ... details. Even worse, people just posting "Interested!" as if it's the new way to "like" something. (this isn't FB tho).

Judging by those replies, they are also likely 14 years old and hoping you'll do a commission for $20... that's enough money for a complete suit, right? Oh, I need it by Saturday!!!!11!1!!1 one

Good god. I read that post and then the comment. My first thought was 'are you a moron?' I'd even wanted to comment, I thought it was so bad. Decided not to because everything I typed came out rude...
