Wow, he sets you up; then lies about borrowing the car. Then has the balls to ask you for bail? That takes real nerve!

BTW, did his arrest give you any ammo against the felony possession charge?

No, but in my case I didn't need any ammo. My case was dropped/dismissed over a procedural problem, and his arrest didn't occur until two or three months later.

As for 'setting me up', I don't believe that was intentional, but he did lie about borrowing the car and left me holding (damned near literally) the bag. I was stunned he had the balls to call me for bail after what he'd done. His last words to me were 'Some friend YOU are!"

Little bastard probably would have skipped out on me if I'd been stupid enough to throw his bail. Don't know what happened to him after that, don't really care.

My favourite shoplifter tale from the Mall of Wart was the man we stopped with several hundreds of dollars of small electronics in his pockets. His defense was that he was stealing because his family was hungry......

Our LP (a HUGE african-american former Marine) just leaned into his face and said, "Then why didn't you steal FOOD?!?"

We were a Supercentre after all, and he had to walk past fifteen aisles of groceries to get to the Electronics dept.....

Ok, IF it were true - which we know it wasn't, and even if it were, doesn't justify it anyway BUT there is a certain logic to that.

The amount of actual food a person could conceal in their pockets, etc. is minimal. The corresponding amount of electronics, on the other hand, could be sold and much more food bought.

Again, not condoning stealing (and not believing that's why he did it, either), but the logic is there.

            Madness takes it's toll....
