VenomX, sorry to hear about your nerves. I hope you do find a better job, those owners sound like idiots. Don't they know about how the douchebag isn't a customer, just bullies your cws into giving him cigs and paper? Good luck.

the only thing i have to say 'against' this ... is that I don't think you owed his mommy even THAT much of an explanation.
"The answer is no until I hear otherwise from MY boss. Good day, ma'am." or something like that.
and them telling you that "boss said it was ok" means nothing - Anyone can say that. Hell your boss told ME he was promoting me to the Queen of the Universe. Doesn't make it the truth tho.
I'm sure she knew just well what kind of jackass her son is. If she thinks it's not a big deal ... that's her problem. Attempting to explain it to her sounds like... it's just giving her a chance to open her mouth so she can bitch about how "unfair" it is that her son is being punished for his actions.
With some people, the only explanation they deserve is "no"
and for your enjoyment - the Doctor says "no"

Quoth VenomX View PostI only stay because I do not drive. And I can not see myself working fastfood. But I guess anything would be better if it came down to it. If I drove and had a good car I could make $43 an hour as a laborer for a customer that comes in every morning that owns a custom concrete company...Any fool can piss on the floor. It takes a talented SC to shit on the ceiling.

Quoth Jay 2K Winger View PostAh, I see the problem. Gangsters-- the fedora-wearing Tommy-gun-packing wise guys-- and gangstas-- fashion victims with chromed-up 'gats' stuck in their waistbands and questionable taste in tattoos-- are two different breeds.
At VenomX - I do second the notion that you contact the customer who owns the concrete company and see if he has an opening that you could apply for. Perhaps you could car pool with another person until you get your first couple of paychecks and get yourself a sturdy, used car (my Toyota Solara, a 2000 that I got used, is still going strong with just standard maintenance, so I suggest you research cars that have been reported to be reliable!) to make your way on your own.
You aren't being paid enough to deal with all the shit and responsibilities they are throwing onto your shoulders. Also, if you get sick again and your boss keeps calling you demanding you to come in or when you will be back, you can probably report him for harassment. My Writing Blog -Updated 05/06/2013
It's so I can get ideas out of my head, I decided to put it in a blog in case people are bored or are curious as to the (many) things in progress.

Quoth wolfie View PostDo you have your license? $43/hr is EXCELLENT pay - in one month on the job, you'd have increased your income by enough to cover the cost of a decent used car (assuming you're getting single-figure hourly like is typical for C-store staff) and the insurance for a year. That car would be an investment.
I do not drive because I know I would wreck and kill someone. Bright sun/lights blind me. Even headlights coming at me when I am a passenger in a car blind me and give me a headach. Then you have the new LED headlights etc... they really do a thing to me...

Quoth downforit2008 View PostYou guys spend $200 a WEEK at that gas station?Hopefully it's for just gas purchases. Food and drink prices at gas station mini marts aren't known to be that cheap!
Just my smokes... $4.31 x 3 a day x 7 days= $90.51
The cigarettes they smoke are $4.53 a pack.
BTW it is no longer a gas station...

As an aside, there are protective lenses you can get to kill glare from the sun and lights without detracting from visibility.
For the chance at $43/hour and the freedom being able to drive one's self would offer, I'd totally look into it.

Adding my voice to the ones suggesting you try for the $43 /hr job. To put that in perspective, That's almost 90k a year... you could spend half of that on accommodating your vision issues and still be making more than the national average, and given your current employment you'd probably be happier to boot. On a side note, I have similar issues with headlights washing out my entire field of vision at night. Fortunately, most roads are straight, so it's not nearly as dangerous as you would think. You may want to see an optometrist about it though, if you haven't already.
