Today is the 4th of the month, rent is due on the first, late after the thrid. If the rent is in the drop box before I check it in the morning then it gets counted for the previous business day. hell, I tell people what time i check the box and tell them if they give it to me before we actually open, they're golden. So I check the box, look around the box, even check the little side box that we keep key return envelops in, and check the box one more time.
After lunch one of the ARs (account reps) sent out the late payment notices via email. Now, if fairness some of these can be in error because of the time it takes to process some online payments. Those we research and fix. Recently there's been a spate of residents lying about putting it in the drop box. That happened today.
her bf called first, at around 1pm. Told the AR that he gave the Money orders to his girl friend last night. She calls up not five minutes later and says she put them in the Dropbox at 10pm. AR asks me if I saw them, I did not. In fact I didn't even process Dropbox, part timer did at Dropbox was already in accounting. He checks with accounting, no money orders for that address. Check with me again, I tell him that the drop box was empty. So he goes outside to check the box. He comes back with a big white envelope. Says there are a couple more checks in there. I shrug, they must been put in after we opened. I don't remember any cars driving through the parking lot before 9, in fact it was a pretty slow morning.
About 5 minutes after the AR got off the phone with the girl shows up in the lobby. I buzz AR. He comes out and she starts debating with him about it. He goes off to find managment, they've all gone out for a bit. He comes back and she starts going on and on saying that he's trying to be "slick" and take her money. I'm like WTF? The I get brought into it because I check drop dox. And then she starts ranting, and he tells her to calm down a bit. She keeps going, saying that until he starts paying her bills she can say whatever she wants to him????
