Well, if those parents don't want their kids to be confronted by death, they definately shouldn't go to this museum National Museum of Funeral History. I went (and I got depressed; 1) my 40th bd 2) mom recently died) and thought it was pretty unexpirering. There were hearsts, coffins (one was made for a family of 3-I think the parents wanted to off themselves after their child died, so they made big casket for the 3, but luckily the parents decided not to kill themselves), a presidential display (with a tacky Lincoln in his casket). The Celebrating the Lives and Deaths of the Popes wing was quality work, but the Egyptian display was so sub-par. The embalming and late 19the cent display was good. But I can imagine parents bringing their kids to this museum and then get pissed at the staff if their kid starts crying.
Time! Time! Time is what turns kittens into cats.
Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.

Any time I've been in the Vancouver Art Gallery it has been rather sparse and I know people bitch about that a lot. There just isn't much in the way of displays most of the time and I've found that it's just not worth the money to go unless they had a huge display event going on. And due their funding being cut horribly they just are not able to afford the good shows.
Truth be told, for what is -- I believe -- the main art museum for a major city, it was pretty pitiful...

A lot of big art galleries and museums in the UK are free. My sister found out that this in not the normal state of affair in other countries when she went to Barcelona and hadn't enough money to visit any art galleries whilst there.
