  • Don't sick your Gramma on us, jerk.

Okay, so the actual sucky customer didn't come into the store, they sent who I am assuming is their grandmother (or perhaps mother) to the store instead. They sent her with three scratch tickets (or scratch offs) to be cashed in and to use that cash to buy some ciggies.

They apparently, very adamantly told Grandma that they had won $25.00. Even when I scanned them in (thus cashing them out) and told her that it was only $20.00, poor grandma (who doesn't understand how to read tickets and just knows that one of them had a STAR on it thus earning double on it) continued to explain she had been told it was $25.00 and not $20.00.

These tickets aren't rocket science. There were two $5 wins and one $10 (the one with a star). That's $20. I even got the manager to show her the little "secret" code that tells you how much each ticket is worth.

Eventually my manager just went, "Well, they're wrong, these are worth $20, and they're now cashed out so you can't take them anywhere else."

I don't blame poor grandma, I'm just annoyed that someone would send in their grandma to buy their smokes and try and battle out getting more money than the tickets were actually worth.

It's so I can get ideas out of my head, I decided to put it in a blog in case people are bored or are curious as to the (many) things in progress.

Oh my god. I work at a C store and get a crustomer (hehe, get it?) almost every shift I work like this.
If anyone breaks the three pint rule, they'll be running all night to the pisser and back.

My bet is they owed Grandma $25 and assured her those tickets were worth that - hopefully they don't deadbeat Grandma out of her $5. Coal in their stocking if they did.

They failed math, is what I think. "Two fives and a ten? Awesome! That's twenty-five, right?"

          Duhhhh...

Nah, can't be that because she used the money to buy that person cigarettes. All I can hope (huge amount of salt I'm choking a shark with it) is that gramma was already doing errands, but I have the sinking suspicion that they sent gramma out specifically just for the tickets and cigarettes. :/
