Detroit Symphony Orchestra (currently running a deal where for 50 bucks you get two tickets anywhere in the house, free parking, and two drinks).
You can go to Hamtramck which is in the middle of the city.
Belle Isle - has some beautiful sights, I even got engaged here.

On a sort of side note - I had a customer yell at me at the bookstore b/c the bookstore's "world headquarters" was NOT in NYC.
