  • Even Crazier Than The Last One

If you read my other post "This is a new one"...this one is even better.

I was telling the story to a co worker who had missed the crazy lady yesterday. She said "Oh I've got a better one!" This happened a couple years ago, I think....

Apparently, a woman came in wanting to return a phone and cancel her contract. When my co worker asked her why....the woman said "Because there are voices coming from it...even when I don't answer it! It just rings then there are voices! It's possessed by Satan and his minions!" CW asks where the phone is and the lady says "It's in the trunk of my car! Go get it...I'm not touching it..it's evil" So CW goes and looks...yep..there's aphone...it's wrapped in tin foil. And why is it wrapped in tin foil? Why to keep the minions from coming thru and possessing her body of course!

After CW returns the phone she quickly realizes the reason behind the mysterious voices coming thru without answering......................................

The woman had it on 'auto-answer'

    Satans and his minions, indeed!

Ahahahaha!!! It happened to me once!
Turns out my phone was set to call 911 if the button 9 was pressed, and I hooked it!

I was puzzled for a good 20 minutes trying to figure out where that lil male voice was coming from!
Now would be a good time to visit So Very Unofficial!

I had something along the same lines happen to me once, but I never thought to blame it on "Satan's minions". I was at the mall and when I got back into my car I decided to call my husband. They paged him at work but there was no answer, and they said he might have gone to do an errand so I figured I'd call him on on his cellphone. The call went to his voice mail, and there was an electronic sound seemingly coming from nearby. It was odd but I had the radio on while I was sitting there so I thought it was just some bit of music. I waited a few minutes and tried again - same thing. Now I'm getting really freaked out. I can't figure out where this sound is coming from but I know it's nearby. I finally start practically tearing the front seat apart and sure enough I found hubby had left his phone in my car and it was wedged in under the seat! I don't know why it took me so long to figure it out but I sure was relieved to know I wasn't having auditory hallucinations!

About 10 years ago I had gone with a buddy of mine to the local store to pickup some booze (4 of us, him and his girl, and me and my girl at the time were crashing at a hotel a little ways away) so we go in, laughing and what not. We pickup our beer and bourbon, and head back to the hotel.... Well it turns out that my phone had auto dialed my parents house and stayed on for about 20 minutes. They heard us at the store (they were very anti drinking) but couldn't tell what was going on.

Very soon after that, I switched to flip phones only (or at least phones that could be locked when not in use).

We were in the break room the other day, sharing horror stories. Anyway, a sup from another team in my dept had a great one. She was monitoring live calls her reps were taking, and this is what happened:

          PC: Phone Crazy
CSR: Whoever the guy was who took the call

PC: I need to cancel my phone!
CSR: I'm sorry to hear that. Why do you need it canceled?
PC: Wait....*awkward silence* Ok, I think it's safe now. So my upstairs neighbor, he rewired my apartment the other day when I was out. And now Martians, from Mars, are listening to my calls.
          CSR: Uh.. ... ... what?
PC: I can't just have them listening in to all my calls, so I'm getting rid of it.
          CSR: Well, uh...
(I wouldn't have known how to respond to this either)
CSR: Um...have you tried, uh, putting foil over the top of the phone?

She didn't say what happened after that, but she said the customer was dead serious. How rewiring her apartment has any effect on a wireless phone is odd enough, but throw in the Martians (from Mars!) and you have extra spicy crazy.

I don't know how close to the same lines this is, but the topic reminds me of the strange noise I kept hearing at my grandparents' house when I was about 16 or so. I was there by myself, watching TV, when I heard this quick "chirp" noise. A little bit later, I heard it again. And again.

It seemed like it was happening at regular intervals, so I timed it. Turned out it was going exactly once per minute, so I figured it was something electronic.

I eventually tracked it down to upstairs, and then into a cabinet, where I found a smoke detector, that my grandma had bought awhile back, but never got around to putting up, and forgot all about it. Since the batteries were going dead, it was "chirping" once every minute to alert the owner.

I told her about it when I got back, and she told me she heard it too, and thought it was a cricket. Said she had been spraying all over the house trying to kill the thing.
