I always try to compliment good service & attitude, and it's amazing how most people just practically glow on actually having something nice said to them, even if it's a situation with no tip involved. You know that just getting a nice word makes their day.
I have this really weird philosophy that just doesn't seem to occur to SCs - I just treat everyone, even, OMG, retail workers & waitstaff, like people :
