I had a SC in today. He is a regular who gives me the wiggins. He had a bunch of rainchecks which we honored even though one was 6 months old. Then he asked for 3 more rainchecks.
SC. I would like 3 rainchecks. One is something you don't have the other two you do, but (waves his hand at what he has just bought)
Me: Sir, I can give you the one, but rainchecks are for if we don't have something, not if we do but you don't want to buy it.
SC: I don't think your management would agree with you on that.
Me: Yes they would. It is not fair to us to make the extra work just because you don't feel like buying something now.
SC: Do you want me to go to CVS?
Me: (thinking YES!) Sir it isn't fair to us.
He takes the one raincheck and huffs off. The little old lady behind him shakes her head at him. I told my boss later and he did agree with me that this regular shouldn't abuse the system. Not to mention this guy probably goes to the other 2 local drug stores just down the street for their deals too.
