So, last night we head to Disneyland for the 4th time in as many weeks. I love having a season pass.
We chose yesterday because it was Columbus Day, so they were open longer, and would have both the fireworks show and the Fantasmic shows, which we wanted to catch. We were also spending some time with a friend we haven't seen for the last year, so it was a fun outing from the get-go.
Our first stop once in the park is Space Mountain. It re-opened from it's Halloween makeover on the 2nd, and the wait was 2 hours the, so we gave it a pass. But for yesterday, it was on our "must" list.
We get off the Monorail and wander to the Space Mountain queue. The timer says that the wait will be 65 minutes before you get to the ride. We were expecting about an hour in line, so we're all fine with that.
Nekojin (my boyfriend) has to make a pit stop, so our friend (I'll call her Elizabeth) and I go up to stand in line. As we're passing the attendants who are making sure that people get into the correct line (one side for stand-by, which is the regular line, and the other line for people who had picked up SpeedPass tickets earlier in the day before they sold out) I blurt out in a cheerful voice, "Oh, hey, it's only half the wait it was last week" to the one on our side of the line. I was in a good mood and I felt like sharing.
We're in line for only a couple of minutes, and the attendant asks us if there's only the two of us. We explain that we're waiting for Nekojin and the guy goes back to his station. Not two minutes later, he waves us to come out of line so he can talk to us.
We get back to the entrance and he hands over a pair of employee discretion passes and tells us that they were "for having a positive attitude." He commented that most people coming through are all growly over the wait, and it was refreshing to have someone who was happy it wasn't longer.
So, what should have been a wait of more than an hour turned into waiting five minutes for Nekojin to show up, and then another 10 to get onto the ride itself.
What a delightful way to kick off a splendid evening at Disneyland. We were able to hit Space Mountain, the Pirates of the Caribbean, watch the Fireworks, hit the Haunted Mansion, and then catch the last showing of Fantasmic (which I have finally seen for the very first time!). Every item on our itinerary successfully completed.
