I bitch a lot about my coworkers. I praise a couple of them.
One of them really stands out though. She's in her mid 60s, had 2 strokes, might be a little slow when talking because of those strokes, but holy crap, she RULES. Plus what I call the "Popeye Eye" from the strokes, she's always squinting from one side. It just adds to her personality.
She's the dirty minded, foul mouthed grandmother I never had.
P is extremely religious, but doesn't preach (I'm heavily atheist, but don't judge... and she doesn't judge). She's always going way out of her way to help everyone she runs into. The other day she gave me a $10 gift card just for helping her out with her laptop, I spent all of about 5 minutes on it and tried to reject the gift card. Today she gave one of the frontend supes a $50 giftcard because he was complaining about spending too much on concert tickets and not being able to afford food - and even gave him a kiss on the cheek when she handed it to him.
She's also the most foul mouthed person you'll ever meet, with one of the dirtiest minds known to man. Whenever she rings next to me we're constantly trading blowjob techniques (yes, it is a little disturbing to be trading blowjob techniques with someone older than my mother).
At the end of the day, dirty mind, foul mouth, and everything, she's one of the sweetest, unselfish people I know. Even moreso because she has a very healthy retirement fund, she just works for the hell of it and to stay busy a few days a week (3 shifts a week).
She rules. I've emailed store and regional management asking if there's something special we can do for her - both mothers day and her birthday have passed without much fanfare, but she really deserves something more than "employee of the month". We'll see what happens.
